Every registered domain has no less than two Name Server records that show where it's hosted i.e. by using these records you point your Internet domain to the servers of a certain web hosting company. That way, you've got both your site and your emails managed by the exact same service provider. On the lower level of the Domain Name System (DNS), nevertheless, there are a number of other records, like A and MX. The first one shows which server manages the site for a given domain address and is always an IP address (123.123.123.123), while the second one reveals which server deals with the emails and is always an alphanumeric string (mx1.domain.com). As an example, whenever you enter a domain name in your Internet browser, your request is directed through the global DNS system to the provider whose NS records the domain uses and from there you could be sent to the servers of another service provider provided you have set an IP address of the latter as an A record for your Internet domain. Having independent records for the website and the emails suggests that you can have your website and your e-mails with 2 different companies if you'd like.
Custom MX and A Records in Shared Hosting
The Hepsia hosting CP, which comes with each and every Linux shared hosting we provide, allows you to see, change and create A and MX records for any Internet domain or subdomain inside your account. Through the DNS Records section, you're going to be able to view a list of all hosts within the account in alphabetical order with their corresponding records, so any update is not going to take you more than a couple of clicks. Creating new records is equally easy if, for example, you wish to use the email services of a different provider and they ask you to create more MX records than the default two. You can even set the priority for each MX record by setting different latency. Put simply, when your emails are delivered, the sending server will contact the record with the smallest latency first and in case the connection times out, it'll contact the next one. Using our sophisticated tool, you will be able to manage the records of your domain names and subdomains effortlessly even though you may have no previous experience with such matters.
Custom MX and A Records in Semi-dedicated Hosting
The Hepsia hosting Control Panel, provided with our Linux semi-dedicated hosting, will allow you to view the A and MX records for each of the domain names or subdomains in your account and if needed, to update any of them or create new ones. Controlling these records is very easy since all domains/subdomains will be listed alphabetically, so updating a record is as easy as entering it in a box and saving the change. Creating a new one takes just a couple of more clicks and in case you experience any troubles, you can check out our video tutorials on how to set up A and MX records. Our system is user-friendly enough to be used by people with little or no previous experience, yet advanced enough to give you total control over all records and to enable you to have different A records even for domain.com and www.domain.com. If you're pointing your emails to a different company and they ask you to create more than 2 different MX records, you can select the priority of each one.
